NF56L6: Barite with Chalcopyrite
Excellent idiomorphic Barite crystal, with excellent transparency and brilliance. Its upper and side faces have very well marked triangular growth figures that give the edges a sawtooth appearance. Also we can see corrosion and contact geometric structures on some faces. We call your attention on the interesting Chalcopyrite crystal inclusions, where the original yellow greenish color is preserved, while superficial crystals on Barite faces are covered by a thin oxidation layer. The specimen is from mining works of Aizpea, close to the La Troya Mine.

Very transparent and bright honey-colored elongated prismatic crystals of barite with curvatures and acute terminations and on a base very rich in native Sulfur. The piece is not perfect, having some broken crystals, but its esthetics are very good.

The growth form, apparently a single tabular crystal but it is really a group of laminar crystals having hexagonal outline. They have very deep color and are implanted on a matrix of Dolomite with Calcite. The specimen is elegant and has a very good quality, coming from a locality, now classic, that has not produced good samples for years.

Very aerial fanlike groups of white acicular crystals, on a matrix of crystals of pale smoky Quartz. As with most of the Russian minerals, some years ago more or less abundant, nowadays it is very difficult to obtain good samples of these species.

Doubly terminated prismatic crystal, transparent and of an good color. The main termination is very rich in pyramidal faces, combined with the flat pinacoidal face. The other termination is more complex and it is partially hidden by a second crystal, smaller and with abundant faces of dissolution.

Neatly shaped prismatic crystal with a bright and transparent pinacoidal termination. The prismatic faces of the crystal, with a good blue color, are also transparent but they have translucent zones. The lower part of the crystal is naturally corroded due to the contact zones with its matrix. We especially note the locality, very uncommon.
The sample is from the Gary Murdock collection, whose label we will send to the buyer. Previously it was in the University of California (Santa Barbara) collection.
